Maths Homework Week ending Friday 19th April 2024

This week in maths we have continued to learn about numbers to 40. We have continued to represent these numbers using base 10 manipulatives (10’s and ones). When we talk about the place value of larger numbers, we talk about how many tens and extra ones the number has. For example, 29 is 2 tens and 9 extra ones; 35 is 3 tens and 5 extra ones; 40 is 4 tens and 0 extra ones.

This week we have used place value to compare two or three numbers and determine which number is bigger/smaller in order to arrange three numbers in order of size, from largest to smallest and smallest to largest. We have also compared numbers, using number lines to determine how much more/less.

The link below takes you to the place value game. Record three of the numbers in the home learning book, and ask your child to order the numbers from smallest to largest, then largest to smallest.

We would love to hear about what you have been up to, and your child could record some of their place value work in their Home Learning book. If you would like to send a photograph on email, we can share it in class. Use the yr1@slf.sefton.school email.

Have fun and thank you for your continued support in helping your child to become a capable and confident mathematician! Remember, if you need any help to support your child, please contact us. We are here to help and support.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
