Introduction

FOSLS are The Friends of St Luke’s School, a group of parents, carers and friends who volunteer to raise money to support the education of all the children at St Luke’s.

We meet every term in Queen's Road Social to discuss fundraising ideas and events, and then work with the school to agree how to spend the money raised. We always welcome new members so please get in touch if you want to join us. Details of our meetings can be found in our minutes below, our newsletter, or on facebook. Coming along doesn't mean you have to sign up to lots of jobs or commit to every meeting, but if you have some spare time to get involved from home or at one of our events, we'd love to hear from you. No contribution is too small and we're a friendly group who are focussed on raising money for school whilst making sure the children have plenty of fun events throughout the year.

All the money we raise is spent directly at school for the benefit of all children, and we would like to say Thank You for your ongoing support.

Current Committee Members

Everyone involved in the life of St Luke's is automatically a "Friend" but there are a core group of people involved with much of the decision making in FOSLS. The current committee is listed below - please feel free to speak to us if you would like to become more involved or have any questions. We'd like to hear from you if you have any ideas on fundraising or suggestions on what you think we should be spending the money on. Email us at any time, or find us in the playground!

What we spend our money on

It’s been another busy and hugely successful year for FOSLS – THANK YOU for all your support of our fundraising and events. Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to organise fun activities for the children (and parents) and enjoyed planning some new ideas, as well as old favourites. Read on to find out how much we raised, and how we have supported school this year…

Arts Week and Classroom supplies: £1700
Library and Reading: £2350
Computing Equipment: £2000

In addition, we spend around £2500 annually across the school on things like:
  • Chicken eggs and hatching
  • Contributions towards Leavers’ hoodies
  • School caps and coaches for trips
  • Class parties

This year we raised an amazing £16, 243!

We are planning to spend some more money on developing the main playground.

How you can help

We are always looking for people to help us.  You don't have to become a regular member of FOSLS to help out at an event.  We'd love to hear from you if you could offer us:
  • Time - We need help throughout the year so every little bit of time offered is well-received. If you can do a little work for us from home (e.g. producing events materials, making up sweet cones, organising documents etc) or if you can volunteer in person to set up or help with an event, we'd be very grateful.
  • Donations - Keep an eye out for regular requests for donations - school uniform, tombola prizes and unwanted gifts are collected all year round.
  • Contacts - Can you, your business, or any of your contacts help us out with fundraising and events? Please get in touch if you can help in any way whether it's finding us a DJ, sweet supplier, marquee hire, quiz master etc, helping us out with printing materials, or offering us commission or discount with your business.
We fundraise all year round, and as well as the events, you can help us raise money in the following ways:
Raise money as you shop, at no extra cost to you! Use your existing Amazon account to nominate FOSLS as your chosen charity.  The start your shopping at smile.amazon.co.uk or turn ON AmazonSmile on your app. We'll receive 0.05% of your shopping back!
Raise free funds for us every time you shop online! Register with the link above, or download the easy Fundraising app, selecting "St Luke's CE Primary School - Formby" as your chosen cause. Start your shopping on the website or app and click through to the retailers. Shop as normal and we'll receive a percentage back!
  • FOSLS 100 Club
Our monthly lottery costs just £2 per month, and you can win cash prizes whilst raising vital funds for school.  Details and joining instructions can be found in the file below.
We sell good quality, second hand uniform for a fraction of the retail cost.  Visit the link to see what's in stock and make a purchase.  If you would like to donate uniform for us to sell, please email us to arrange drop off, or leave it at the school office for us to collect.
  • Matched Funding
Many employers will match or give a donation when their employees raise money, so if you help us out at an event, please check if your company will boost our funds! Your company will usually have the form you need to complete, so please get in touch with us for further details if you think you can help.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
