Yr 3 weekly blog 24.9.21

24.09.21

Another week gone already! It really seems like the days are flying by in Year 3 at the moment, especially now we are well and truly getting stuck into our Harvest service preparations. The children will be visiting church next Tuesday to meet with Reverend Matt and to put the finishing touches to our presentation. We have been rehearsing our lines with gusto at every opportunity. If your child has a speaking part they will have come home with a prayer or a few words to practice. Please encourage them to read their words aloud with plenty of expression. We hope to fill the church with our glorious and confident children’s voices.

Hopefully everyone now has a torch in school. We have been harnessing the unseasonably sunny September weather in our work on shadows. Ask your child the question, “How is a shadow formed?”

Now we have settled into more of a routine in class the children are working extremely hard with very little ‘down time’. The calories they are burning as their brains discover new things is evident. Many of them are asking when it is break time and complaining that they are hungry. Can we remind everyone of the benefits of a healthy snack? Even if the children are not used to having a mid-morning snack at home could we please ask you to consider sending them to school with a simple piece of fruit, vegetable, cheese or crackers that they can enjoy at breaktime.  The children then return to class refreshed and refuelled ready to tackle another few lessons before lunch.  Unfortunately, we cannot allow the children to have any type of cereal bar at playtimes due to the fact that we have a number of children with severe nut allergies in school.

Another plea… pencils and red pens!  We aren’t exactly sure where they are all going, maybe the children are munching on them at snack time but we have emptied our emergency supply of writing pencils and red biros replenishing the children’s pencil cases. If you have any lying around at home could you please send your child in with an additional set. Many thanks!

Dates for your diaryHARVEST service Monday 4th October.

Please remember to join us via Google Classroom on Wednesday 29th 2021 at 6.00pm for a ‘Welcome to Year Three’ meeting. We will be showing you around the classrooms and chatting about how things run in Year Three. Don’t worry if you cannot join us as we will record the meeting and post it to Google Classroom.

Here’s to another sunny weekend. See you on Monday!

The Year Three team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
