                                 Friday 28th January

This week, we have had fun doing masses of measuring using both non- standard and standard units of measure (cm).

We have also been thinking about the internet, devices and what we use them for. Discussions relating to our use of the internet will continue and will be a focus on February 8th, Safer Internet Day.

During PE, we thought more about travelling along different pathways and incorporated apparatus to develop our ideas further.

We have now completed our puppet plans and looking forward to making them in the week to come.

Next week, we also look forward to considering toys, in living memory. We will study toys belonging to parents, grandparents and, in some instances, great-grandparents. For this, we would ask that the children bring in a toy, or a photograph, to discuss by Wednesday 2nd February. We will share the knowledge the children have gathered about the toy and also the materials it is made from.

This weekend is the Big Garden Birdwatch for the RSPB. You might like to take the opportunity to complete the survey and discuss the birds you have spotted.

Next week, we have our amazing Animal Mufti, on Friday, and are excited at the prospect!

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
