Year 6 Weekly Blog (21. 12. 18)

Date: 21st Dec 2018 @ 2:44pm

This week, the children have been as fantastic as they have been all half term. All of the adults are astounded by their focus, dedication and intrinsic will to learn.

We have had a lovely week that has been capped off beautifully by some wonderful activities. The children have enjoyed lots of entertaining shows and events, including The Greatest Snowman, the Year 2 Nativity, as well as lots of fun and games during the Year 5 and 6 Christmas party. Their behaviour during this week of festive activities has been impeccable and they have been a credit to us as a school.

Within the main curriculum, the children have used Christmas presents as a vehicle to improve their understanding of the nets of 2D shapes. The nets have come in all shapes and sizes, and they have showed their understanding well. We have also looked at coordinates within 4 quadrants, and used these as the basis for some Christmassy shape drawing – including Christmas trees and crackers.

We have had no Superstars this week, but instead have given out our half-termly LEARN award and Excellence in English award.

For LEARN, we have awarded them to Lara (6G), for Ask Good Questions, and Aaron (6WD) for Learn for Life.

Our Excellence in English awards have gone to Chloe (6G) and Lily (6WD) for their outstanding effort in English this half-term. Well done to all of you and please do keep up all of this hard work in the New Year.
