Year 6 Weekly Blog 1.12.23

Date: 1st Dec 2023 @ 1:23pm

This week in maths, we have been learning on how to write decimals and dividing as well as multiplying. We have used multiple methods to work out the answers and then in Guided Practice we used the methods we were comfortable with to work out the answer. We have been learning about Ancient Greece and planned some writing about the Olympics and Democracy.  As well as this, we have been drawing theater masks. This is all being planned to do a write about Greece. In guided reading we learnt and read about the Minotaur( Ancient Greece ) we have done inferences, retrievals, vocabulary and evaluations on the Minotaur. In indoor PE we have been making up our own dances and pretending to be in a chariot racing contest and the phalanx formation. We have been learning different types of passing like pop passes and some others in rugby. Our teachers has helped us through this so we can learn how to pass properly.

Mrs Edger worked with us as the start of the week to show us how to do CPR on someone who is having a cardiac arrest. We now all have the knowledge to potetially save someones live in the future. Thank you Mrs Edger!

6G also enjoyed exploring the Liverpool World Museum and learning more about the ancient Greeks along the way. A great time was had by all involved. 6H's turn next week.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
