Year 6 Blog 3.11.23

Date: 3rd Nov 2023 @ 3:07pm

What an exciting first week back we have had in Year 6. We have started work on our new topic, The Ancient Greeks, by looking at when the Ancient Greek period and starting to look at Myths such as Perceus and Medusa, in preparation for writing out own Myth. We have also started to re-enact life in Ancient Greece in our dance sessions, focussing on the Olympic Games.

In maths, we have started to look at adding and subtracting fractions, challenging ourselves with changing mixed numbers into improper fractions to help us.

We have started to look at the components of a circuit in science and listened to a piece of music inspired by the sea, thinking about powerful adjectives that came into our minds whilst listening.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
