Year 6 Blog 26.1.24

Date: 26th Jan 2024 @ 3:38pm

This week, Year 6 have been very busy – both in school and out. We have started to learn about ratio in maths and the children have picked this up well. We’ve moved past the basics and the children have developed their confidence when using ratio to solve multi-step problems.

In English, the children have continued to compose their own retelling of the story, Tyger. The language that the children have been coming up with is brilliant and all of the adults working with them have been impressed.

Some children in Year 6 have attended a dodgeball event at Stanley High School, in Southport, and the year group enjoyed watching a film on Thursday – in homage to Holocaust Memorial Day. At both events, the children were a credit to our school and one member of the public even took the time to email into school, complimenting the manners of some of our children who they sat next to on the train.

We have two more weeks until the half-way point of the year and there is still much to do, but the children have earned a restful weekend.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
