Year 6 Blog 15.9.23

Date: 18th Sep 2023 @ 3:39pm

Year 6 have been in full-force action again this week. We have continued to look at healthy habits by focussing in on the food which we eat, as well as what makes a balanced diet. In Maths we have consolidated our learning on place value, before looking at the order of answering questions with mixed operations and starting to look at multiplying.

In Music, we have continued to look at advanced rhythms, composing our own rhythms to fit in a four-bar sequence. In Computing, we looked at how computers send messages to each other in small packets by creating our own network as a class (see our picture below). In art we continued to look at product design and re-designed a famous cereal brand's logo. We have also started to look at the ultimate questions in R.E. tackling some very tricky concepts in the process.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
