Year 6 Blog 1.3.24

Date: 1st Mar 2024 @ 3:11pm

Year 6 have continued their study on Enslavement, looking closer into the Transatlantic Trade and continuing to look at our novel, Freedom, where we have looked at Nat's Journey to England and his thoughts and feelings throughout.

We have spent the week looking at how to calculate the volume of various cuboids in maths, talk to us about with the children confidently solving problems involving various cubes and cuboids.

We had visitors come in to talk to us about how we can mange our worries; we have all picked up some useful tricks and tips from them to make our days brighter.

In science, we looked back on our learning on evolution, using Darwin's finches as the basis for an experiement to see how beaks will work differently.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
