Year 5 Weekly Blog

Date: 4th Feb 2022 @ 2:24pm

In maths, we have been multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. It was very hard, but we managed it in the end.

In art, we focused on Ben Nicholson and his modern art. We were inspired to sketch Solar-System planets like his work and we added lots of different shapes.

In guided reading, we found out our parts in the musical, Rock Bottom, and we practised our lines while adding expression.

Finally, in science, we explored water resistance, looking at whether tinfoil boats floated better in fresh or saltwater and which shape of boat travelled through better.

This week's Blog was written by Heidi Baker and Sophie Burns of 5L

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
