Year 5 Weekly Blog (29. 11. 19)

Date: 27th Nov 2019 @ 5:35pm

We have been researching the toys and games children in Victorian Britain would have played, and have compared the difference between those played by the rich and the poor. This culminated in us playing some of the games we learnt about from marbles and hopscotch to hoop and stick - we had great fun.

In "Street Child" we have reached quite a traumatic point in the life of Jim Jarvis. We used this as a stimulus for our writing - creating different types of poetry. These were so powerful with extended sililes and metaphors, that the Year 5 team had tears in their eyes as the poems were performed from memory. These poems are being put up on display next week so please pop in and read them. But BE WARNED: tissues may be needed.

Keep an eye on Twitter next Monday as we will post some pictures of our Victorian Classroom and our experience working at Croxteth.
