Year 5 Weekly Blog (27. 11. 20)

Date: 26th Nov 2020 @ 12:36pm

This week, we have een putting ourselves in the shoes of the main character from our novel, writing different styles of poems to describe the anguish that Jim was feeling. They were so emotional that they brought tears to the Year 5 team's eyes. The children have copied their poems up neatly for the wall display and have learnt some lines off by heart, which they then performed to the class. In PE we played some Victorian Games, that would have been played in Victorian times, from hopscotch and marbles to hoop and stick and hoopla. Pictures to follow on the website. We can't wait to play them again on our Victorian Day. (You should have received a letter about this via email yesterday.)

In maths we have been looking at, reading, creating and answering questions on a variety of timetables. Next week we move on to fractions.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
