Year 5 Weekly Blog (25. 01. 19)

Date: 26th Jan 2019 @ 8:32am

Another amazing week in Year 5 has seen it's ending, much like the stories which the children have produced this week. We have all been amazed by the imagination the children have and how great their stories about how the man got on to the moon (Using the old John Lewis advert as a stimulus). Their vocabulary choices have astounded us and i'm sure they look forward to you reading them at home.

In maths, we have moved on to subtraction and multiplication of fractions and the children have worked extremely on these all week.

The main focus of this week has been art however, with the children producing a range of stunning pieces. We have produced pastel planets, using pictures as a stimulus and the smudging effects give the artwork a realistic affect. We have also used the abstract artwork of Peter Thorpe as the basis of acrylic paintings and these have a similar wow factor. The most important thing is the children have enjoyed it all the way.

Our Superstars this week were Sofia (5L), Dan and Thomas S (5J) Well done to all of you!

A small reminder that the next York payment is due. See the office or Mr Hardman for more details.
