Year 5 Weekly Blog (2. 10. 2020)

Date: 1st Oct 2020 @ 12:49pm

This week we have been extending our knowledge of the ancient Maya culture even further. We have looked at the brutal game of Pok-A-Tok and written detailed instructions for the game. Perhaps you could have a game this weekend - you just need a hoop and a ball. We have also become tour guides for Chichen Itza, one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world, and could easily get a job working for the Mixican Tourist Board with our extensive knowledge.

In maths, we have almost completed our unit on addition and subtraction and will be starting Unit 3 on multiplication and division.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
