Year 5 Weekly Blog (17. 5. 19)

Date: 16th May 2019 @ 5:23pm

This week we have been out and about once again, discovering our local history at church  and learning about the importance of the red squirrel in Formby at Freshield National Trust. (see photographs)

At church, we looked for historical clues inside and out, finding a Viking God-stone in the church yard and a grave dating back to 1666 as well as looking at the old school log book from 1860 - 1945 and finding our Christening details in the baptism log book. Mrs Pickavance even found hers! At the nature reserve we had a talk from the ranger before looking for red squirrels - which were that elusive that we saw none! We did however learn a great deal about dreys and caching food for winter.

We were delighted, this morning, to receive an email from a police officer, who was on our train, and who took the time to write to Mrs Cowey about our fabulous manners and behavior; a copy of this has been parent mailed to you all.
