Year 5 Weekly Blog (11. 12. 20)

Date: 8th Dec 2020 @ 11:56am

What a great week this week. Hopefully you have had a chance to look at all the photographs that were taken on our Victorian School day.  The children looked amazing and had a great deal of "fun" being treated as they would have been 150 years ago.We had lessons in elocution, handwriting in copy books and on slates, arithmetic to add pounds, shillings and pence and outside drill to name but a few.  I am afraid to say though that some children did have to step outside the room for a caning, for hair to be scrubbed free of lice, or to wear the dunce's cap in class.

We have also created our moving structures for DT,, sawing and gluing so that  everyone has a moving cam mechanism. We are now ready to decorate in order to turn the mechanism into a toy. Pictures to follow next week.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
