Year 5 blog 5.5.23

Date: 5th May 2023 @ 1:11pm

This was a short week but a busy one. We had another history / geography trip to use last week’s learning to date some of the houses in our locality using an OS map to work out our route. We also looked at maps of our location from 1845, 1846, 1909, 1955 and an ordinance survey map from 2022 to see how the population of Formby has grown over the years. We also looked at the growth of our school building as the population has grown. Today we had a fantastic orienteering session with our buddies to learn all about King Charles III’s Coronation tomorrow before a picnic on the field in our red, white and blue and singing the National Anthem.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
