Year 4 Weekly Blog (13. 11. 20)

Date: 12th Nov 2020 @ 2:25pm

Week 2 is now completed and there are only 41 more sleeps until the big man in red comes a visiting!

On Wednesday, Year 6 put together a poignant video as a way of celebrating Remembrance Day in a socially distanced way. The children who took part were exceptional and should feel really proud of their achievements. The videos (6A and 6G) can be found in the St Luke’s YouTube account. The children in Year 4 sat through the service and demonstrated their great listening skills and they also respectfully observed the 2-minute silence. Thank-you year 4, we are proud of you all.

Today, Friday, it was Children in Need day and all the children came to school wearing lots of shades of yellow with spots dominating the classrooms. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take part in the normal fundraising activities but nonetheless the children had a chance to get into the spirit of the day by learning all about how previous years’ money has been spent for good causes and we even took part in Joe Wick’s 5 minute ‘Children in Need’ workout.

In English, we began our topic book – Fox. The children were desperate to find out what was happening in the first scene and are learning to be patient! As the idiom goes: A picture speaks a thousand words.

In Maths we have been studying division with remainders in word problems and also using bar models to show how to work out problems such as: If Bob has 6 times more conkers than Ruth and they have 42 conkers between them, how many conkers does Bob have???

Enjoy your weekend everybody!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
