Year 4 Weekly Blog (11. 9. 20)

Date: 11th Sep 2020 @ 9:45am

Well done to all our super Yr 4 pupils for getting through to the end of the first full week back! They have been fabulous and have adapted brilliantly to all the changes that have been put in place since the return to school.

We have continued the transition period through studying a book called 'Here we are: notes for living on planet earth' by Oliver Jeffers. The book has been a driver for lots of thoughtful class discussions and allowed the children to spend time in the moment and reflect on what they like and what is important and special to them. The children have written poetry and letters, and have created informative, engaging leaflets and posters to send important messages to others. In addition to all this great work, the children have settled back into our Maths No Problem sessions and are enjoying getting back to journaling their ideas. Next week we will be focussing on getting the children back into the swing of things with their X tables using TT Rock stars.

4W began their swimming lessons this week; there was so much excitement on the bus going that you would have thought they were off to Disneyland! It has been great to see all of the children in their smart outdoor games kits and taking part in the circuit training activities (4W and 4C) and practising their jumping techniques in athletics (4C).

One of our worships this week was the retelling of the story of a jungle missionary called Jim Elliot who was called by God to visit a tribe in Ecuador. As well as another story next week, Mrs Cowey will deliver a separate worship via zoom, and this will be followed up later in the week in class worship.

To cap off a super week, Mrs Cowey surprised the children with a Zoom Superstar assembly from her office! It was lovely to have all of the school together again albeit remotely! The clapping to celebrate each class's superstar pupil could be heard across the school which was a joy to hear.

Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to the start of another fun learning week on Monday.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
