Year 4 Blog week ending 1/10/21

Date: 3rd Oct 2021 @ 3:03pm

Apologies for the late blog,

Week 4 over and 3 weeks left until October half term.

This week's SUPERSTARS are: Noah (4C) and Georgia (4W). Congratulations to both of you!

On Thursday, we finally met up with our Reception buddies and we all had an enjoyable time playing and laughing together. The children loved the parachute games, especially the wriggle worms! ? and their time on the adventure play frame. We are looking forward to sharing more time together soon.

As mentioned in last week's blog, we have completed our story , 'Fox' and this week have been busy finishing off writing our book reviews as well as creating a story board to tell the story in pictures and key words. We have also discussed ideas for the sequel and the children planned their own version using a story mountain template. Next week the children will be writing each stage of their first draft before proof reading and editing it to make it the best version it can be.

In Maths, we have been continuing with number sequences and have also looked at multiples of 6,7 and 9. The children have thought about these numbers in a creative way and have been identifying common factors of larger numbers. Do you know how many factors there are for 24?

In Science, we investigated what happened when we added water to a container of sand and marbles to demonstrate that air (gas] was all around us. We also showed that gas, even though it is invisible does have mass. Next week we will be investigating how states of matter can change from one to the other, which will involve the children becoming rather dramatic out on the field!

We are looking forward to watching our Year 3 children leading the Harvest celebrations on M9nday morning.

We hope you have all had a safe, relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
