Year 4 Blog 8.9.23

Date: 8th Sep 2023 @ 12:40pm

Welcome back to an exciting new school year! Luckily, we have had a lovely sunny start. The children have enthusiastically settled into their new Year 4 classes.

They have spent some time, excitedly sharing their summer experiences with each other. It sounds like they have all thoroughly enjoyed time spent with their families.

The children have been introduced to their new science topic and have begun finding out about states of matter.

In Geography, the children have started to look at the features of rivers.

We have introduced tall desks to our Key Stage 2 classrooms so the children can choose to sit or stand as they work.  Research indicates there are multiple benefits to standing to work, including: improved focus and concentration due to micro-movements allowing energies to be directed into learning rather than seeking broader movement; increased levels of alert, both during and after standing to work; reduced risk of obesity; improved mental health linked to positive endorphins being stimulated by exercise; better posture and spine/shoulder alignment. The children will all have opportunities to explore how they work best given the benefits are universal; ample space for seated work will continue to be available.

Congratulations to this week's superstars: -

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
