Year 4 blog 6.10.23

Date: 6th Oct 2023 @ 1:24pm

The children have had another great week of learning in Year 4!

In Maths, the children have been using mental strategies to add numbers. They are also continuing to work on improving their times table knowledge.

In English, the children have been producing story maps, to retell the story -A River. They have also developed their understanding of where to use a comma, to show a fronted adverbial within a sentence.

In Art, the children have been using charcoal and chalk. They have used language from our text, A River, as a stimulus to make marks in their concertina books. They used the techniques they have learned previously to created textured pictures.

In Science, the children have investigated temperature. They know that a thermometer is used to measure temperature.  They also know that when heat is applied, a solid can change state, to a liquid. The children worked in groups to investigate the temperature that chocolate, ice and sweets melted at.

In geography, the children excitedly used atlases to find and identify rivers around the UK.

Well done to our Weekly Superstar: 4C: Nell and Maisie 4WM.

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
