Year 4 blog 29.9.23

Date: 29th Sep 2023 @ 11:21am

Thankfully we have had lots of sunshine to enjoy this week!

In Maths, the children have been adding 4-digit numbers with renaming. They have been using counters, journaling down their thinking and have used column method to calculate their answers.

In English, the children have continued being tour guides. They have expertly explained the various parts of the water cycle, as if they were giving a guided tour. They have used super language in their writing, with lots of description to add detail.

In Geography, we have been identifying the features of rivers.

In Science, the children have been investigating temperature. They observed and measured the temperature of ice water, tap water and boiled water over a period of time.

In Art, the children have explored using charcoal. They had fun exploring the kinds of marks that they could make. They used rubbers, brushes and white chalk to add to their mark making explorations.

In RE, the children have been considering if Jesus was inspiring because of his actions? They listened to the stories of the feeding of the 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish, and Jesus walking on water. They developed class acrostic poems based on the word INSPIRE to show their understanding.

The children loved their first walk to church with their buddies, to listen to Year 3’s Harvest Service.

Well done to our Weekly Superstar: 4C: Hugo and Edie 4WM

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
