Year 3 Weekly Blog (4. 12. 20)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Tonight every child has come home from school with a beautiful book for them to keep. These have been bought for them by St Luke’s Church and every child was delighted to receive their ‘Unexpected Gift’. We hope you enjoy sharing the story together.

Although different to previous years the excitement in school is still beginning mount. The children are particularly looking forward to designing and making a Christmas bauble as part of their DT next week and are already thinking of how they want to decorate it. In school we have lots of embellishments but some of the children have asked if they can bring in certain things from home such as bells, beads, ribbon etc These are able to come into school on Monday or Tuesday in a labelled sandwich bag or envelope and we will store them in school until the are needed on Friday.

Friday is also the day of the Santa Dash so the children will need their outdoor games kit 3 days next week. However, don’t forget a little Christmas bling for Friday in the form of tinsel, reindeer antlers, Christmas hats or even a jumper. We can’t wait.

This week we have been working hard within History. We have learnt all about the diet and clothing of those living during the Stone Age period and have produced some super writing. We have also looked at how they lived and, during Forest School, built our own shelters. The children demonstrated excellent team work and all managed to create a structure to keep them dry. Have a look at the photographs.

This week there is some additional Maths Homework on our home learning page. Multiplication remains our Maths focus and we still have many children finding this a challenge. There are 3 differentiated homework sheets to choose from. Please choose the one you feel is most appropriate for your child.

Wishing you a festive weekend,

The Year 3 Team

***Well done to this weeks Superstars – Olivia, Nate and Isaac***

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
