Year 3 Weekly Blog (22. 5. 21)

Date: 19th May 2021 @ 11:00am

We have had the most egg-cellent week! The arrival of our 'Living Eggs' on Monday created so much egg-citement and the children have been beyond delighted. It has been amazing to watch the chicks hatch, fluff up and move into their brooding box and the highlight of the week was having a hold and a cuddle with our beautiful bundles. We are looking forward to seeing how they grow and change next week and we can't thank FOSLS enough for funding this vital experience for the children.

We have continued with diary writing this week but have changed our focus from sunflowers to chicks. Diary writing is an important genre of writing that the children should have covered in Year 2 therefore, we are making sure that they have lots of experience before moving into year 4. This week we have continued to plug the gaps from year 2 by beginning to look at habitats in Science. The children have really enjoyed these lessons and are learning lots.

During Art we were able to use marbling inks for the frst time. The children created beautiful, individualised pictures and also managed to cover Mrs Burdell in ink too! Sorry Mrs Burdell!!

We can't believe that next week is the last week of the half term. During this week we will be selling our amazing sunflowers for a small cost in order to raise some money to buy more items for the school garden. Watch this space, there will be more information to follow early next week.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to animal mufti today. Some of the costumes were fabulous and lots of effort had been made.

Fingers crossed for some sunshine this weekend,

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
