Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Year 3 Weekly Blog (16. 10. 20)

What a strange week it has been! 3IR have certainly missed hearing 3WM next door and cannot wait for our year group to be complete again after the half term. For all of those children working at home we are extremely proud of you – 3 days to go! Keep it up! Just a reminder we still have some of 3WM’s books in school waiting to be collected. These resources, especially the Maths No Problem books, will really support your child’s home learning.

Unfortunately we have been unable to record our Harvest service as planned this week. When the children return after the half term break we are going to put together a short film about Harvest and Thankfulness (our Year 3 Christian value) for you all to enjoy.

The children that have been in school this week have continued to work on column subtraction and bar models, just like those children at home. We have also written some beautiful acrostic poems and prayers and we are looking forward to seeing 3WM’s on their return to school.

During PE on Thursday we continued to develop various skills including skipping and hula hooping! We also began to focus on throwing for accuracy and distance and improving our agility in the speed bounce. The children are working hard and are trying to improve their speed bounce score each break time too! Take a look at our photographs.

Just 3 more days to go and you can all have a rest! You have worked so, so hard this half term and have settled into life in the juniors exceptionally well. You have done yourselves proud. Rest up, stay safe and take care. We will see you after the half term.

Happy Holidays,

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
