Year 3 Blog - 4.3.22

Date: 4th Mar 2022 @ 1:53pm

04.03.22

What a week! We’ve enjoyed a visit from a local author, created our own dramatic soundtrack to a ‘Night on a Bare Mountain’ by Mussorgsky, crawled through an exhausting bootcamp fitness afternoon, shared our favourite texts on World Book Day, created the layers of the Earth out of chocolate and began our focus on the story Stone Age Boy.

Everyday has been different this week and the children have loved the variety of activities, getting stuck in with their usual enthusiasm. Take a look at the photos below.

A lot of the children have begun to ask about the different types of rocks that they have been finding on their travels. If your child would like to bring in a selection of rocks they are very welcome to. Can they do some research and label the type of rocks they have found. Do they think they are Sedimentary, Igneous or Metamorphic?

Next week we will be exploring where The Stone Age sits in history by creating our own timeline beginning with the present day and tracking back to the birth of Jesus then back to The Stone Age for the children to realise that modern day time is literally a ‘sneeze’ in the larger picture of the history of mankind.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
