Food glorious food! Have your children been able to tell you all about the different food groups? How many are there? The children have been fascinated by how the food groups can actually overlap. Where would you put butter? Dairy or fat? What about ice cream? We have spent our science lessons studying the five main food groups and how important it is to include all of them in as many of our meals as possible. Fruit and vegetables and carbohydrates need to be the largest portion on our plate. We have also been talking about ‘Eating the rainbow’ as each colour of fruit or vegetable has different health benefits; blue/purple; helps improve memory function, white; helps to maintain a healthy heart. Can you research the benefits of orange, green or red fruits?

Our visitor last week has clearly inspired the children judging by the models of teeth that have been flying in for homework. Please take a look at the photos below.

Next week is Children’s Mental Health week and Safer Internet Day. Both these national campaigns fit perfectly with our topic ‘Healthy Humans’. Looking after the mind is just as important as looking after the body.  We will be focussing on an activity a day to highlight the importance of working on our self-esteem and emotional well-being. What a wonderful week we have to look forward to.

Have a lovely weekend!

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
