Another sunny week has rolled by and the children are loving our topic, ‘How does your garden grow?’ This week we have looked at the functions of the 4 main parts of a plant; flower, leaves, stem and root. Over the next few weeks we will be designing our own non-fiction book covering pollination, photosynthesis, germination and much more. Focussing on not only the scientific elements but also the structure of a non-fiction text; heading, main heading, captions, labels …

In art and design we are working towards a paper and wire sculpture of a flower. This week we have been designing our own paper and experimenting with different materials and textures. Take a look at our creations below. Going forward, the children will have access to a variety of joining materials; masking tape, wire, string, parcel tape, glue. Maybe the children could spend some time in the garden, on the Hightown path, in the woods or down Range Lane this weekend as the wild flowers are beautifully in bloom.

In ICT we are leaning how to use Gmail to compose and send messages. We will be adding attachments and photos next week.

Our PE days are now Thursday (cricket) AND Friday (dodgeball).

Please remember that we are off on our adventures to Ness Gardens on Thursday. Children need to come to school wearing their outdoor PE kits and wearing sun cream (fingers crossed) and a rain coat to cover all eventualities.

Have a wonderful 3-day weekend and we’ll see everyone on Tuesday

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
