Year 3 Blog 29.09.23

Well, what a success our Harvest Festival services were! We have been inundated with Golden Tickets from across school and a number of the congregation also commented on the children’s enthusiastic singing, outstandingly clear speaking voices and their great big beaming faces. Thank you so much to everyone who was able to get down to church on Wednesday to support us. The children literally shone with a full church to impress and have been excitedly chatting about it ever since!

Another huge thank you for all your generous Harvest donations. As Rev. Matt explained, they will be given to Southport Soup Kitchen to provide a warm meal and a friendly welcome for those who find themselves in a rather difficult position at the moment. We are constantly exploring our Christian value of ‘Thankfulness’ with the children and they are beginning to understand that if you have a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in the fridge and a family to love then you are richer than 75% of the world’s population.

Unfortunately, we were so engrossed in the church service that it totally skipped our mind to take and photographs.

Our gymnastics routines continue to evolve and we are nearing a finished compilation of transitions and balances. The children have really enjoyed these sessions and their array of inventive ideas has actually blown us away. Please take a look at the photos on our school blog. The children are enjoying their basketball lessons, perfecting our chest pass and bounce pass.

In Computing we have been learning about digital devices, input, process and outputs. The children made their own digital devices interventions which they loved!

In Science this week the children have continued to watch their seeds grow in class. Germination is the key word in Y3 at the moment, the children can confidently explain the process of germination of a seed.

The Y3 children also enjoyed their music lesson delieved by the Liverpool choir - their singing voices were beautiful!

Year 3 enjoyed their first library session on Friday, they are looking forward to choosing their books that they can loan from our school library for 2 weeks.

Also, a massive well done to all the children who prepared and delieved a speech for the school council. The children read so confidently and clearly, it was such a pleasure to hear them read. Very well done to the children who have been voted to become our school councillors this year... Harry and Alfie in 3H and Ella and Oliver in 3R!

As always, thank you for your ongoing support. Enjoy the weekend!

The Year Three Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
