Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

What a week we have had in Year 3. Pudsey toast, beginning our basketball lessons in Outdoor Games, learning all about the importance of the Suez Canal, our adventure to the cinema and of course our Children in Need extravaganza.  Our focus on Asia, Africa and the Suez Canal has led to many discussions about what exactly is a canal? Maybe you could visit one of our local canals in Lydiate, Maghull, Netherton or the Pier Head over the weekend?

Thank you so much for all the kind donations we have received in school during this fund-raising week. Our class Pudsey money boxes are positively bursting with coins and the children understand that there are lots of families who will benefit immensely from your kind donations and thoughts.  The children looked fabulous today and fully embraced the fun Pudsey games in the hall and a rather bonkers worship filled with laughter, prize giving and cheer.

Yesterday we had the most fantastic trip to the cinema. The children were so well behaved and it was a joy to see them out of school with their friends, singing on the bus,  snuggling into the massive reclining seats at the cinema and munching away on their popcorn and sweets. They were a credit to school and we were so proud of them.

Next week we continue our journey around the world and will be focussing on North America. The children are becoming more confident with naming and identifying all of the continents. Maybe they would like to do a little research over the weekend? How many states are there in the USA? How many countries make up the North American continent?  Which oceans border the coast of North America?  Are there any animals that are native to a certain part of North America? Maybe they could write a few quiz questions to challenge their friends next week. We will also be starting the design phase for our  hanging Christmas tree decorations. We would love it if you could show your child how to thread a needle and do a running stitch. So much to look forward.

Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe.

The Year Three team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
