Who would have thought that chocolate and the different rock types go so well together? Chocolate rocks have been a big hit over the last few weeks. Ask your child about the different chocolate bars that we have sorted. Is a Crunchie a Sedimentary, Metamorphic or Igneous rock? What about an Aero, Mars Bar, Angel Cake, Rice Crispy Square? Can you think of any other chocolate rocks?

We have continued our Stone Age Boy focus. This week we have gone adjective and simile mad as we have written a description of a cave. We turned out all the lights, put on some spooky music and put ourselves in the position of an early human. What could we hear, see, smell? Some of the descriptions made the hairs on the back of our neck stand on end.

The children were fascinated to learn how the earliest humans as hunters and gatherers came to shelter in caves then built animal hide structures and finally constructed stone and timber framed dwellings. The Stone Age really was a time of huge change. Our earliest relatives paving the way for a more modern way of life for us all.

The weather looks like it will be kind to us this weekend. Enjoy, and thank you for your continuing support.

HOME LEARNING TASK:  Friday 18/3/22

For this week's 'WHOLE SCHOOL' maths homelearning task, we are asking the children to create a collage/poster/sculpture/fact file etc. around a particular number. We would like this to be as creative as possible to show maths in our world and hence the reason why it is so open ended. There is a word document to go alongside this task and includes the number that we would like you to look at. Plese look under the Home Learning tab on our class page.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
