Another wonderful week has passed by in Year 3. The Romans are most definitely coming. The children have LOVED every second of our journey through tragic Pompeii. Using a variety of videos, role play and images we have quite literally run through the busy, frantic, ash filled streets with the characters Tranio and Livia as their city was buried around them.

Take a look at the links below which give an impression of what life might have been like on that fateful day.

In outdoor games this week we have begun our OAA (Outdoor and Adventurous) unit. We are focussing on map reading and orienteering. The key to this unit is effective communication, good listening, team work and problem solving. The children really enjoyed their first session even if it did challenge them in ways they perhaps weren’t expecting.

In ICT we have begun our personal research project about the Romans. The children are able to access and if they choose to add to their presentation at home. The children just need to log in with their email address and their work is saved on the google drive.

On Wednesday the children were very excited because at last we have been able to get our hands on the African drums! Each week the children will learn a new rhythm and begin to layer sounds to create a final piece. We can’t wait!

Please remember that our PE days are now Tuesday (OAA) AND Friday (athletics). PE changes are always noted on our class page of the website.

We hope the heat wave fills your weekend with cheer and maybe a BBQ!

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
