Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Weren’t we lucky with Sports Day?

As soon as we started to march back to school the rain began to fall. Perfect timing! It is a long time for the children to wait for their chosen races and although Miss Irvin was full on sweating with the pressure of recording 1st, 2nd and 3rd the children, mostly, waited patiently for their turn. When we returned to school we had plenty of discussions about the importance of remaining competitive but also respectful of everyone’s efforts. This is a tricky lesson to learn when we are all high from the adrenaline of placing in a race. Trying our personal best is all anyone can ever ask for. Well done to everyone who took part with gusto!

This week we have continued our history focus, delving more closely into what life would have been like for a Roman citizen. Did you know there were 3 main types of Roman homes? The Insula (poorly built inner city flats) Domus (city mansions for the Roman elite) and of course the Villa (huge, rural lavish homes of the super-rich) We have also covered schooling, road building and the reasons behind the construction of Hadrian’s wall. Latin landed in Year 3 this week. The children were all really excited and loved discovering what their Latin name would have been.

In DT our Roman chariots are slowly taking shape. The children have been building and securing their chassis, designing and have finally begun to construct their cab. Phew!

On Thursday the children had the opportunity to spend some time exploring their new classrooms and getting to know their new teachers ready for their next step up the ladder into Year 4.

Please remember that next Tuesday is our trip to Chester. Thank you to everyone who has already paid. Please see the lovely ladies in the office if you are struggling with the Spider app. As mentioned previously the children will need to come to school in their uniform, with a waterproof coat, covered in sun cream and with their packed lunch in a plastic/paper bag.  Fingers crossed for sunny skies above Chester next week.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
