Year 3 blog 16.06.2023

Date: 17th Jun 2023 @ 5:49pm

We've really enjoyed the beginning of arts week, taking part in dance, drama and even maypole dancing activities!  We listened really carefully to the instructor and were able to master this tricky traitional skill.  We've also enjoyed whole-school concerts and are looking forward to continuing our creative activities next week.

It's been busy in the classroom too: we've continued with our focus on data and have been reading and creating bar charts in maths.

We've brought science into our English lessons, reading about the king who was afraid of the dark - it was great to hear that the silly king mastered his fear when he realised that without dark we can't enjoy things such as fireworks.  This has led us on to our wider study of light and we've begun to explore reflections and shadows.

We've had an exciting time in art, exploring how artists can combine cloth, thread and paint to make unusual and interesting work.  We're going to try these techniques ourselves over the next couple of weeks so any spare scraps of fabric or thread would be welcomed in class.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

The Year 3 team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
