Year 2 weekly blog (9.2.24)

Date: 7th Feb 2024 @ 10:13pm

And just like that we've come to the end of our 'Once upon a time' topic! How it has flown! We have had a lovely week in year 2. The children have been busy writing their independent stories of their own version of a twisted fairy tale. They have been learning how to self edit, and reading back through their work looking for missing punctuation, incorrect spellings, missing words and also recognising when to revise certain parts.

We had the awesome Rock Kidz visit us on Tuesday and the children absolutely loved it! With their positive mental health messages performed through rock, it was a show to remember. We have attached several videos from the day for you to see!

During RE we have been thinking where our special place is and why. The childrens answers ranged from home, to school, to holiday spots, to Anfield! We discussed with our friends why these places are special to us and then looked together at a Muslims special place, a Mosque. The children were fascinated to see the different Mosques we found online all over the world.

We continued monoprinting in Art this week, using carbon paper to print our animal sketches. The children have loved Art this term, they've really embraced each task and enjoyed the time to get creative.

Finally, the children came to the end of their DT project, making Baby Bear's chair. We have some brilliant structures and the children were able to evaluate their model, thinking about what they like and what would they change.

There is no homework with it being half term so we will keep the home learning books and return them the first Friday back.

We hope you all have a wonderful half term, and the children enjoy a well deserved break!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
