Year 2 Weekly Blog 5.5.23

Date: 5th May 2023 @ 10:20am

A short week, but a super busy one!

The children have been working really hard this week and we're really proud of all of them! We've been extending our knowledge of the upcoming coronation and have looked at British values and whats important to us. The children have lit up our classroom with their colourful bunting ready for King Charles III's coronation and we really enjoyed today's coronation picnic on the field with all our friends, dressed in our red, white and blue mufti.

In Music the children have been listening to different melodies and playing along on glockenspiels to 'Once a man fell into a well' while reading musical notes. The children then came up with their own melodies and performed them to the class.

To end our brilliant week the children with their Year 6 buddies took part in another orienteering session, this time with a King Charles III theme. Everyone had a brilliant morning following their maps around school in hunt for the next question.

We hope you all have a lovely extended weekend and enjoy the bank holiday!

The Year 2 team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
