Year 2 Weekly Blog (4. 3. 22)

Date: 1st Mar 2022 @ 1:24pm

We have had another exciting week in Year 2.

On Tuesday, the children enjoyed spending time on the inflatable assault course and completing a variety of fun exercises with the group from Go Outside.  In the afternoon, the children thought more about algorithms in their computing lesson.  The children loved being able to play on the Quick, Draw! game from Google which helped to introduce the concept of Artificial Intelligence and further their understanding of what an algorithm is.  The children were then tasked with working with their partners to create very specific and clear written instructions (an algorithm) how to construct a simple Lego model.

On Wednesday, the wet weather meant that the children weren't able to complete their usual outdoor P.E. lesson on the school field, so instead, the two classrooms were turned into yoga studios for the afternoon!  The children followed a 'superhero' yoga routine and we were very impressed with their listening skills: following the instructions for each yoga pose, and trying their best to move their body very carefully around the room.

It was World Book Day on Thursday and the children brought in their favourite books.  The children wrote book reviews for their favourite books and shared their thoughts with their friends in a 'walking gallery'.  Throughout the day, the children had lots opportunities to listen to different stories and at the end of the day the teachers from Year 1 came to read stories to the children in Year 2 - the children all loved being able to see their old teachers from last year!  On Thursday, during class worship, the children had a very mature conversation about what's happening in Ukraine at the moment; we were very impressed with how carefully and sensibly the children listened and talked about what's happening in the world right now.

We hope that everyone who came along to the 'Milk and Cookies' story time after school on Thursday evening enjoyed it!

Have a good weekend, see you next week!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
