Year 2 Weekly Blog (25. 2. 22)

Date: 23rd Feb 2022 @ 10:29am

We hope you all had a nice a week off and hope the stormy weather didn't get in the way of your half-term plans.  This week, the children have been introduced to their new topic: Superheroes!  The children are very excited about starting their new topic and, on Monday, they had a chance to think about the new topic, sharing their knowledge about lots of different superheroes, their strengths, weaknesses and enemies!

On Monday afternoon, the children also learned about an artist called Roy Lichtenstein and looked at lots of his work - they then had a go at trying to create their own pop art style pictures using bold primary colours and big blocky, bubble style writing.

On Tuesday, the children used watercolours to create a blue sky using a graduated painting style, they will be using this painting next week in an art lesson to create a 'city skyline' style picture using lots of strips of newspaper.

Throughout the week in Maths, the children have continued to further their learning about money: using pretend money to consolidate their learning to find different ways of making the same amount.

We hope you all have a great weekend, and look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
