Year 2 Weekly Blog (24.3.23)

Date: 24th Mar 2023 @ 10:08pm

What a fabulous week we have had in Year 2!

We had a great start to the week on Monday with it being World Storytelling Day and to celebrate this our lovely children retold the Easter story to Reception. They'd been practicing for a couple of week and were very excited to share!

We've been getting scientific this week and had to get our thinking caps on as a few of our favourite superheros had managed to get themselves frozen! The children in teams had to work together to solve how they could unfreeze them and whether we were conducting a fair test.

We began our Design Technology project this week by designing our moving monsters. We have been looking at different types levers, pivots and linkages and will be using a linkage system to operate our monsters. The designs are coming along brilliantly and they look great! We will be making our monsters next week on Superhero Day!

During RE we took a closer look at The Last Supper and the children tried to imagine how Jesus, Judas and the disciples all felt at that meal and we also looked at the importance of the bread and the wine and what it symbolised.

In Maths this week we have been examining 3D shapes and their edges, verticies and faces. Please see more about our Maths on the home learning tab.

Don't forget it is Superhero Day on Thursday and the children have the opportunity to come into school dressed as a superhero.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and are ready for the last week of term! How time flies!

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
