Year 2 Weekly Blog (24.2.23)

Date: 23rd Feb 2023 @ 9:40pm

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half term.

We've had a great week back introducing the children to this terms topic SUPERHEROES! As you can imagine we're all very excited!

In English we have been looking at the story Supertato and the children have been practicing using adjectives and asking question. They've also been using their imaginations to create their own villains similar to The Evil Pea.

In Maths we have introduced money and the children have been counting money as well as looking at equal amounts. Where contactless and Apple Pay dominate cash, the children are at a disadvantage when it comes to handling money, especially since covid. We'd really encourage money games (playing shop) at home to support their learning. We've been playing online money games and the children have loved them!

In RE we have began looking at the Easter story and this week the children have been practicing retelling the story, ready to tell reception later on in the term.

In Art we have been looking at Pop Art and creating our own superhero pop art name call outs. They look fab and really effective!

In Computing we have explored data handling in a space station! In Music we have been created Space soundscapes.

As many of you will know our website and spider weren't working at the end of last term so we weren't able to upload the last weeks blog. We have attached the photos to this blog so they aren't missed. The last week of term the children were practicing their debate skills which can be seen in the pictures!

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
