Year 2 Weekly Blog (24. 6. 22)

Date: 21st Jun 2022 @ 11:58am

We have had (yet) another very busy week in school!

On Tuesday, the children had their class photograph - we can't wait to see what they look like!

Throughout the week, the children have continued to look after the chicks and they even had the chance to take them outside into the garden and observe them.

On Monday afternoon, the children explored different microhabitats around school, looking for minibeasts.  The children had to complete a survey to gather data regarding how many different minibeasts were in the different microhabitats; the children explored the garden, which seemed to be a rich source of minibeasts (slugs, ants, ...) and a corner of the school field, where they saw spiders, bees and wasps.

On Thursday, the children enjoyed their second trip of the year: Martin Mere!  It was a very hot day and we all had a great time.  The children loved seeing the variety of wildlife throughout the site.  They had lots of different activities to help further their knowledge and understanding of life in different habitats: investigating different types of life in ponds and in 'Plum Wood' - they also enjoyed being able to spend time in the playarea (we have uploaded a selection of photographs onto separate blogs.)  During English on Friday, the two classes talked all about their trip, looked at photographs from yesterday and then independently wrote about the trip to Martin Mere.

Thank you as well to the parents and carers who accompanied us on the trip on Thursday (and also the previous week, when we went to the Philharmonic).

We hope you all have a nice weekend, and look forward to seeing you on Monday!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
