Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Year 2 Weekly Blog (21. 1. 22)

Date: 19th Jan 2022 @ 9:10am

This week, the children have continued to learn all about traditional tales, with a focus on using their artistic skills to draw some villainous characters!

On Monday, they designed animal masks using template and black marker pens; we were very impressed with the unique array of designs they came up with

Throughout the week, they have also created wolf portraits using their sketching skills and charcoals.  They all look terrific and are now proudly being displayed in the school corridor outside the Year 2 classroom; we have already received lots of lovely compliments from teachers and children who have stopped to admire the artwork on show!

As well as using pen, pencils and paper to create works of art, the children have also been using computer software to create traditional tale stop motion animations; the children had to plan their short stop-motion film, think about which backdrop to use, which characters they wanted to 'animate', and then work in pairs to create their mini masterpieces!

In Maths, the children have finished their learning on measure and temperature and started to focus on fractions: learning about halfs, thirds and quarters

On Thursday, 2G had their Golden Ticket celebration, bringing in toys from home; all of the children had a nice time and the celebration afternoon was well deserved after a brilliant term before Christmas!

Enjoy your weekend and see you all on Monday!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
