Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Year 2 Weekly Blog (20. 5. 22)

Date: 18th May 2022 @ 3:07pm

We have had another action packed week in Year 2: the children have been drumming, playing cricket in P.E., and beginning to create their wind-up mechanism (a Tudor house 'on fire').

On Monday afternoon, the children thought about how London has changed since the Great Fire and had the chance to show us how they would 're-design London': we saw lots of colourful buildings and interesting architectural designs!  The children also finished off their marbling pictures: cutting out a silhouette of a city scape before sticking it to their marbling sheet.

On Tuesday afternoon, the children once again enjoyed another drumming session with Gaffro: learning a new rhythm and working in teams to play different rhythms at the same time!  The children have really worked hard to concentrate and learn a new skills over the past few weeks with Gaffro, and we are all very proud with how hard they have been working!

During P.E. on Wednesday, the children continued to build on their cricket skills which they have been working on over the past few weeks; this week they worked in teams of 3 to bowl, bat and field in mini-games.  On Thursday, the children continued to practise their dancing skills in the hall - working in teams to create a dance sequence.

Throughout the week, the children have also been starting work on their D.T. project: creating a wind-up mechanism for their Tudor house in 1666.  They're looking great so far!

We hope you all have a nice weekend, and look forward to seeing you on Monday for the final week before the half-term break!  We can't believe how fast this term has gone - before we know it, it'll be time to break up for the summer holidays!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
