Year 2 Weekly Blog (17. 6. 22)

Date: 14th Jun 2022 @ 3:06pm

We have had an amazing week in Year 2!

On Monday, we had a very important delivery: the eggs!  The 'living eggs' were delivered by a friendly farmer who informed the children that, all being well, the chicks would be hatching within the coming days... and, as expected, it wasn't long before we started to see signs of life emerging!

Throughout the week, the children have been keeping track of what has been happening in their very own 'Chick Diary'; on Wednesday, the chicks started to emerge from their shells, and the children were all very excited to see the new life emerging!  On Thursday, the children had their first opportunity to hold and stroke the chicks - we were very proud to see how gentle, kind and careful all of the children were when holding and stroking the chicks.

As well as looking after the chicks, the children haven't forgotten their responsibilities looking after the Year 2 vegetable patch - especially important given the hot weather we've had over the past few weeks!  We're still waiting for the peppers to grow, but the spring onions, radishes and lettuce have certainly grown healthily over the past few weeks!  We're also hoping for a bumper harvest from our potato grow-bags - watch this space!

On Wednesday, we went on our first trip of Year 2!  We had a superb time at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool listening to the superb orchestra.  We were all amazed with the beautiful playing and the colourful lightshow that lit up the stage throughout the performance.  It was the first trip that the class had been on for a long time - since Reception, in fact! - and the children all had a great time.

We hope you all have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you next week!  We all can't wait for trip number two: Martin Mere!  Fingers crossed the beautiful weather continues over the weekend and into the following week.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
