Year 2 Weekly Blog (16.09.22)

Date: 15th Sep 2022 @ 12:17pm

We've had a brilliant week in Year 2 and we've all been very busy!

We have resumed Read, Write Inc this week so the children have met their new RWI teachers and have settled into their new groups and will be coming home with a RWI book to read over the weekend.

We have continued investigating maps and the children created their own maps of the classroom, we were very impressed with the maps produced.

In Maths, we have carried on looking at place value and have started introducing number patterns to the children, you will see this reflected in this weeks Maths homework sheet. We've been really impressed with the children's counting and this has really helped them to recognise different number patterns.

Continuing with our 'Where we live' topic we have been looking at where we are in the world; the planet, continent, country, county and village we all live in and have created a booklet to portray this.

On Thursday we had a VERY exciting day and celebrated Values Day. In Year 2 our Christian value is 'courage' and the children had an excellent day planned out with lots of activities that tested their courage as well as looking at all our school values. We all had so much fun spending time playing in the ROLA, storytime with our buddies, creating artwork, discussing the importance of all our values and having courage to overcome hurdles (literally! See pictures!).

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend - see you next week!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
