Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Year 2 Weekly Blog (16. 10. 20)

Date: 13th Oct 2020 @ 2:22pm

Another week has flown by in Year 2!

In Maths, the children have thought carefully about how find equal groups of numbers and the corresponding multiplication facts.  The children used counters to create different groups from a set of 10 (2 groups of 5, 5 groups of 2) and 20 (5 groups of 4, 4 groups of 5, 2 groups of 10, 10 groups of 2).  All of the staff have been very impressed how the children have worked independently to find different patterns.

On Monday, the children went on a Geography 'field trip' (around the school!) - using a map and key to investigate different parts of the school.  The children all had their own clipboard and a map which they were able to use to find and identify different parts of our school; the children even added a variety of extra labels to their maps, and then added these to the key.

In P.E., the children have continued to develop their athletics skills outside, this week they have been practising their jumping and skipping skills.

In R.E., the children thought carefully about the story of Jesus' miracles, and thought about the different Biblical stories we have watched and listened to over the past half term and talked about how some of these are from the Old Testament and others from the New Testament.  The children then drew these characters into their R.E. books.

On Thursday, 2M had a chance this week to use the Chromebooks to complete a data collection task on Purple Mash.  The children discussed the different houses people in 2M live in, then collated this information and represented it in a pictogram.

Enjoy the weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week for the final few days before the half-term break!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
