Year 2 weekly blog 14.7.23

Date: 11th Jul 2023 @ 8:15pm

Our very last full week in Year 2 has come to an end.. it  has flown but been filled with lots of fun!

We have been thinking about healthy bodies and healthy minds this week and took on a challenge of following a design brief to make a healthy wrap. Our project started with us learning about a balanced diet and the different food groups. We investigated hidden sugars and were surprised to find out just how much sugar was in some drinks! We then tried a range of proteins, vegetables and cheeses to test out different combinations to use on our own wraps. After picking our favourite combinations, it was time to put our final design into action. The children impressed us with their careful cutting and assembling of their wraps. Some children surprised themselves by discovering they liked some of the foods that they thought they wouldn't like!

We were so proud of all of the children's participation during Sports Day and how they cheered on their friends as they were racing, despite wet conditions! We soon dried off when we were back at school and thought about different ways we can take some time to recognise our emotions, do things that we enjoy and practise mindfulness to help keep our minds 'healthy' too.

To finish the week off, we had the chance to watch a rehearsal of the Year 6 Leavers' show and cheer our Buddies on before their 'real' show next week.

We also loved seeing the children in their outfits for what they want to be when they grow  up!

Have a great weekend and see you next week for our final days in Year 2!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
