Year 2 Weekly Blog (14.10.22)

Date: 13th Oct 2022 @ 5:14pm

This week has been our DT week! Each afternoon the children have been creating their ferris wheels and they are coming together nicely! Thank you for the materials brought in. We can't wait for you to see them next week. There are lots of different steps to build our ferris wheels so this has taken up much of our week and the children have really enjoyed the project and to do something a bit different. The children have designed their ferris wheel, we are currently making them and then next week we will be evaluating our individual wheels and look at what we love about them and how we could improve them for a future project.

In Maths this week we have been focusing again on column method, but we are now subtracting with regrouping. It's a very difficult concept and the children are doing brilliantly. The homework this week will give the children some extra practice. Please refer to the home learning tab for additional information on this.

We can't believe we only have a week left of this term and our 'where we live' topic. This term really has flown by but we are really excited to start our next topic and start getting ready for our Christmas nativity!!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 2 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
